Alcohol and "The Simpsons"

Alcohol problems are now in the public eye, with increasing interest from all sections of society in how to deal with this problem. For example, the Scottish Government had in their manifesto a plan to introduce a minimum price for alcohol. Will it work? Who knows, however it is refreshing to see an Administration who are interested in discussing radical plans to tackle the issue. What are your thoughts?

On a lighter note, American TV institution "The Simpsons“ had a really interesting episode where the show's main protagonist, Homer Simpson, decided to give up drinking. Laughter aside, it’s really worth a view and I've used excerpts of it in a training day for health professionals before. Homer's struggles in the episode can actually be a fair reflection on how difficult it can be to tackle this issue yourself.
